I’m so excited about our new gorgeous guest books! There is a huge variety of fun leathers to choose from. One side of the page holds a 10×10 fine art print. The other side holds a sheet of fine art matte board for guests to write their musings and well wishes on. This featured fine art guest book is wrapped in fantastic silver leather. It holds ten 10×10 fine art photographs and ten 10×10 matte board writing pages.

Emily and Vernon’s perfect East Hampton wedding was filled with the beautiful words of the ones they love and the details were inspired by their favorite writers. During the reception there was one wonderful speech after another. If you look at their wedding details you will see how pages from various literary works were transformed into wreaths, boutonnières and floral ribbons. Thank you Emily and Vernon for an amazing day!
The ceremony took place at the always lovely Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church; followed by the reception at a picturesque private residence. A special thank you goes out to Stephanie Faller from Epicure Events and Design for bringing it all together!

A huge thank you goes out to The Knot for selecting us as a “Best of Weddings Pick 2012″. The first time we received this award was in 2008. The Knot is such an asset to couples planning their wedding day. This latest Best of Weddings Pick honor makes it five years in a row for Modern Wedding Photography. I also want to thank all of our wonderful clients for your kindness and support. I love that there is a group of couples out there that want honest images of how their wedding day unfolded. I first signed on with The Knot in May of 2001. Denis Reggie was endorsing the virtues of The Knot site at the time. If you don’t know who Denis Reggie is, he is the father of Wedding Photojournalism for the past thirty years now. I’ve always admired his beautiful spontaneous images. As photographers, we owe a lot to him. It’s funny how some people think that wedding photojournalism is a fad. Capturing life as it unfolds, harnessing ones tears and laughter into one photograph, to last for generations to come, can never be a fad. As people, we are fluid and are constantly moving. If a photograph can honestly capture you in one moment and at the same time tells a story, that is quite an extraordinary feat.

Our clients love large canvases to display images from their beautiful wedding day. I’m often asked how we manage to arrange our wall displays so neatly. This month we did a little redecorating at Modern Wedding Photography and I thought this would be a good opportunity to show you how we get it done. Included below are some photos of the process.

Supplies needed:
-Canvases
-White Artist Tape (available at art supply stores)
-Kraft paper
-Tape measure
-Pencil and Scissors
-Hammer
-A level
-Our canvases come with “Saw Tooth” hanger.
-”OOK” One Step Hangers (brand name) -It’s a fancy nail. Most hardware stores have them. We give them to you with your canvas.
-White artist tape to tack the Kraft paper to the wall. Most art stores have white artist tape. It will not pull the paint off the wall. We had just painted the wall the day before and I did not want it marred by tape. You should be careful with any freshly painted wall.

Mounting Instructions
1- Measure the wall you want to work with. Come to us with your measurements and we can design the perfect display for you.
2- We use Kraft paper to make a template of the canvas. We lay the canvas down on the Kraft paper, trace with a pencil and then cut the Kraft paper template. We also mark where the saw tooth hanger is on the canvas onto the Kraft paper. We just place the Kraft paper on the back of the canvas and marked where the saw tooth hanger is with the pencil.
3-Tear and roll pieces of the white tape onto the back of the Kraft paper template, (homemade double stick tape). Do not use real double stick tape! It will be too sticky and can mare the wall. If you are doing this on a wallpapered wall and not a painted wall I would try Fun Tack. Test it first. You do not want to damage the wall paper.
4- Hang and adjust your paper template where you would like it on the wall.
5-Once you are happy with the placement hammer the OOK one step hanger into the wall. We do it right over the Kraft paper. We hang the canvas to see if we like the placement. When we are happy with the position we remove the canvas and slip out the Kraft paper. Then just re-hang the canvas. Use the level to make sure it is straight.
6-If we are hanging more than one canvas; we will just place the Kraft paper that is the same size of the canvas we are hanging in the next spot.
